Lead By Example

As a corporate trainer, one of the classes I enjoyed teaching most was a leadership series I developed in conjunction with Penn State University. The courses in the series included Delegation, Conflict Management, Negotiating, Stress Management, and Vision/Mission Implementation. In my years teaching that series, I saw many leaders and potential leaders, and by the end of the program, we could assess each individual and estimate their ability to lead. One thing that was clear very early on was how participants with the ability to lead by example rose to the top. Even in the delegation class, the authentic leaders knew that part of delegating tasks and roles was in your own actions. One thing I’ve learned in my years as a leader and following great leaders – lead by example and others will follow!
