Midweek Motivation: Change Happens

There are very few things that are a certainty in life. One such thing is change; it’s simply no avoiding it! So what do you do when life throws you the preverbal curveball? When your plans are to go right and your only option is to go left? When you want things to go a certain way, but they end up differently? How do you succeed when what you wanted doesn’t come to fruition and you are forced to deal with change? Two words; Adapt and Overcome!

When you are faced with changes, the first step is to adapt and adjust to them. In order to adjust to them, you first have to acknowledge them and not avoid them. One of the mistakes we often make is we ignore the changes and continue on with our original course of action, which almost always leads to failure. Look at it like this, if you have traveled a road on your route to work every day for 5 years, but that road was suddenly closed due to construction, you would have to find an alternative method, right? The same goes for when changes hinder or alter our path to success, we have to make an adjustment to our original plan to get to our desired destination.

Adapting to the changes is extremely important, but it’s only a part of the equation. To realize the success we want, we have to not only adapt to those changes and make adjustments, but we have to overcome them. That’s a major step because it often involves fear and many times it’s fear of the unknown. Changes are like obstacles, and you have to find the best method for overcoming them. Think back to my example about the route to work; when your path is detoured by construction since quitting is not an option you still have to press forward. Imagine if you said, “my regular route to work is blocked off, I’m going back home”, how successful do you think you’d be with your employer or even as an entrepreneur?

What are the factors involved in overcoming change?

Change is a part of life, success happens when you make the necessary adjustments to keep moving towards your goal and press on to the desired mark!
